Carlos Muñoz Ferrandis

Founder

Carlos is a Spanish qualified lawyer and a tech enthusiast. He is currently a PhD Researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition (Munich, Germany). He focuses on the interactions between open source and standards, from an intellectual property and competition law standpoint. Besides, he devotes some time and interest to blockchain. On the one hand, he collaborates with Utrecht University, under the framework of the Blockchain for Societies Special Interest Group and, on the other hand, he is a contributor in the RegTrax Project, a project under the framework of CodeX, The Stanford Center for Legal Informatics (Stanford University, USA).

First steps

Before starting his PhD, Carlos made his first professional steps at the European Patent Office in Munich, and at a leading European IP law firm in Paris.

  • Law Degree in Spanish and French Law – University Complutense (Madrid, Spain) & University Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne (Paris, France)
  • Postgraduate Title on IP/IT law – Magister Lvcentinvs, University of Alicante (Spain)
  • Qualified to the Spanish Bar
  • Diploma in Competition Law, Instituto de Estudios Bursátiles (Madrid, Spain)
